The Emigrant

2013. 18 year old Lev overhears a conversation of an emigrant who has not been home for a decade in a Russian consulate abroad.
Lev returns to Moscow 6 years later to interview an oppositionery political leader. Beforehand, he meets his dominant /abusive ex-girlfriend Polina, who brutally disrespects him because he got drunk.
On the recording day, the police breaks in the studio and arrests the leader. They fight, and the fight hits a model in a room nearby. She falls to the ground, Lev helps her stand up. They have a deep conversation. Lev realises she is different.
Lev comes next to the house of Polina and looks in her window. On the border, leaving Russia, Lev is told he cannot exit the country. Lev smiles. He imagines his future life in Russia. The officers laugh at each other and tell Lev they made a mistake. Lev nods, picks up his luggage and proceeds to the gate.
The Sun On The Wall

The Deserter

Two young men of different views are drafted into the Russian army. The liberal tries to avoid the draft and resists, while the second sticks with prejudices, which he is unaware of. In the combat zone, the liberal loses his mind and kills a man because he did not obey to his whim. The other one, shocked, does not follow the order of the general the next day and tries to desert.
