A monk, struggling with shame over some past life, is more aware of the meaninglessness of his future existence and searches for God, which takes up various forms of nature, angelic visions and light. After seeing a mosquito fly into a hole in the wall, he decides, after a series of unsuccessful answers at confessions, to brick himself into the wall, to learn sympathy and the depth of human suffering and find God.
